It’s that time of year again when we start making promises to ourselves for the new year. Here’s a New Years resolution we can all afford to make: to take better care of our cars. How to remove little snitch mac.
Some people believe that skipping the car wash and procrastinating regular auto tune-ups is saving them money. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. The reality is that practicing proper auto care ensures your car’s life expectancy and protects its value, saving money in the long run. This month, the experts at National Transmissions and Auto Care Centers bring you three ways to take better care of your car in 2017.
May 13, 2018 Buy a convertible - then the birds will poop in the car rather than on it. Saves the paint. Sell your car and get into cycling. Wrap your car in plastic like people do to sofas and chairs. It won’t be comfortable and getting in and out will be a pain but, hey, clean car! Jun 28, 2013 A creative solution to a messy problem. Every morning when I walk out the door to go to work, there is bird poop all over the sides of my car, always in the same exact spot.
1. Keep the Outside (and the Inside!) Clean
A dirty car isn’t just aesthetically unpleasant, did you know that excess dirt and grime can actually be damaging your car? That’s right, dirt, dust, bird droppings, and other pollutants build up over time and act like sandpaper on the surface of your vehicle, stripping down your vehicle’s finish and paint job and exposing your car to rust.
It’s important to set aside a couple of hours each week to wash and wax your vehicle. Don’t have the time to wash your car by hand? Run it through a car wash on your way home from work.
Don’t forget to clean the interior! Toss out any trash, wipe down your seats with leather or upholstery cleaner and vacuum all floor mats and carpets.
2. Proper Tire Care is Key
Did you know that practicing correct tire maintenance can save you money? Correct tire pressure will improve your fuel efficiency and extend the usable life of your tires, so you don’t have to replace them as frequently.
If it’s been a while since you inspected your tires, check for any visual signs of wear, use a tire pressure gauge to check air pressure, and examine your tires’ tread depth. To find the correct air pressure for your vehicle, refer to the owner’s manual or the tire placard attached to the vehicle door edge. As a rule, if tread depth is less than 2/32 inch, then your tires are bald and should be replaced immediately.
3. Practice Auto Regular Maintenance and Tune-ups
Prevent long term auto damage and safety risks with preventative car maintenance. Ask your mechanic to check your engine, transmission, brakes, brake pads and change your filters, oil, and other fluids as advised. Oil should be changed every three months or 3,000 miles. Find a reliable auto care center in your area and take your car in for regular tune-ups to ensure all parts are in working order.
